The Phoenix Ensemble Youth theatre program has been running for four years now, and this is it’s second year with new tutors Andy Macfarlane and Frog Johnson.  The youth theatre program offers a unique opportunity for high school aged students from 13-17 years of age that have a keen interest in the performing arts to learn, participate and engage in many areas of theatre, both on stage and off.

This program was set up to offer the youth of the area a chance to further their practical knowledge of the stage and give them the chance to perform skills they have learnt to the community.  The Phoenix Ensemble Youth Theatre program is an excellent opportunity for students who love theatre, or even those with a mild fascination, to take to the stage and do what they love to do.

What we do

The youth theatre program offers a wide range of skills and techniques that not only helps students grow as performers, but create a high level of enjoyment as well.  The program is fun and light hearted, but the development of young actors and actresses are always what the program is working to create.  Throughout the year there are many different workshops run including:  Improvisation, Characterisation, Preparing for auditions, Script writing and Interpreting, General performance skills and Body and voice improvement.  These skills are then put to practical use whit two productions a year.  A mid-year showcase of pieces devised and prepared by the students and at the end of each year a full length musical, with this years show to be ‘The Wiz’ the R’n’b version of the Wizard of Oz.
