Young adult theatre master class

Phoenix Ensemble now offers a young adult theatre course.

The course, tutored by David Keirnan (from Phoenix's The Crucible and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), will target young adults aged 17 to 23 years.

Aimed specifically for those who have some theatre experience, this course will cover a wide range of subject matters relating to:
•    embodying and freeing the voice
•    how to learn text without killing the text
•    how to improvise with text
•    physical embodiment of text (how to use your body as a source of inspiration)
•    monologues and audition prep
•    scene work
•    devising your own work
•    honing the imagination and focus techniques
•    discovering each participants natural style of performing and expanding it.
•    where to from here? (what is available or possible, sharing my experiences).

Phoenix Performance Director, Heather Scott, is thrilled to have David accept this challenging role.

"David brings a wealth of experience to Phoenix and I'm sure will be a great mentor for our young adult members wanting to further explore theatre in depth.

"I'm also hopeful we will be able to develop this course into six week modules where our adult members will also be able to gain valuable skills and develop self confidence."

Interested youth members must apply via email for a place in the course. These classes are in 10-week modules. Class numbers will be limited to 10.

Cost is $150 for a 10 week term and fees must be paid in advance.
