In 2012, Phoenix Ensemble will again show why it’s one of the most dynamic, adventurous and talented community theatre companies in south-east Queensland, with an eclectic season of productions promising something for everyone.
The line-up includes an original musical featuring hits from the 90s, a classic David Williamson play, one of the most successful jukebox musicals of all time, and a politically-incorrect musical featuring puppets. All productions will be staged in the boutique Pavilion Theatre at the Beenleigh Showgrounds.
I’m too sexy for the 90s From first-time director, Joel Mikkelsen, comes an original production featuring music of the 1990s – from Alanis Morissette, Nirvana and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, to Eminem, Britney Spears and MC Hammer. Musical direction is by Nick Ng and Casey Chadwick, with Choreography by Alex Burrie and Laura Baker. Season: 2, 3, 9, 10, 15, 16, 23, 24, 30, 31 March 2012 Auditions:

After the Ball This story, from iconic Australian playwright David Williamson, offers a frank, critical look at Australian suburban family life in the 1960s and 1990s. A deeply moving play, directed by Maria Grills. A must for fans of quality Australian drama. Season: 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23 June 2012 Auditions: 3 March 2012

This promises to be the most talked about show in Phoenix’s 19-year history! Musical direction by Casey Chadwick and Nick Ng, and choreography by Heather Scott.
